Nicollette Sheridan gained recognition for her role as Paige Matheson on the beloved soap opera Knots Landing and later became a notorious fan-favorite as Eddie Britt in Desperate Housewives. However, many fans may not know about her challenging romantic history and how this stunning star from the 1980s has changed over the years.
Read on to discover more about her journey. Sheridan burst onto the television scene as the alluring and cunning Paige Matheson in Knots Landing, a spinoff of Dallas. Although the show first aired in 1979, she joined the cast in 1986 and remained for seven years, having just finished her role as John Cusack’s love interest in The Sure Thing.
As Paige, she showcased a blend of sweetness and wickedness, leaving a lasting impression on viewers. Sheridan described her character, saying, ‘Paige is different. She’s strong, she’s ambitious, she’s bright, she’s mischievous.’ Not only did she capture the hearts of the audience, but she also received the 1990 Soap Opera Digest award for Outstanding Lead Actress and was named one of People magazine’s ’50 Most Beautiful People.’ Growing up in Hollywood with her actress mother Sally Adams and her mother’s partner, Telly Savalas, Nicollette was born in England but moved to the U.S. at the age of 10. While her British accent remained for many years, she has since mastered the ability to switch it up as needed.
She shared with the Tampa Bay Times in 1988 that the kids used to tease her about it, which she found really upsetting. To overcome this, she dedicated herself to practicing an American accent every day until she nearly perfected it.
Nicollette Sheridan, known for her role in Dynasty, is among the many Hollywood stars who have faced challenges in their marriages. The 57-year-old actress, originally from England, first tied the knot with actor Harry Hamlin, who is now 69, in 1991.
However, their marriage lasted only 11 months, and the reasons behind their split became a topic of public debate. Hamlin’s second wife, Lisa Ramlin, who is also 57, accused Sheridan of having an affair with singer Michael Bolton.
This claim was made during an episode of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, but Sheridan has strongly denied any such allegations.
Sheridan asserts that her divorce from her first husband was due to completely different reasons, which sparked a public dispute on Twitter where Hamlin supported his second wife and accused Sheridan of dishonesty. It’s also well-known that Sheridan had an on-and-off relationship with singer Michael Bolton starting in 1992, following her divorce.
They were together for five years, separated, and then got back together in 2005. They got engaged in 2006 but ended their relationship two years later. After her split with Bolton, Sheridan married Aaron Phypers, but their marriage lasted only six months before they divorced.
Interestingly, like her previous husband, Phypers later married Denise Richards, a star from Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, in 2018. During this time, Sheridan faced challenges in her career as well. Her character on Desperate Housewives was unexpectedly killed off, and she alleged that her dismissal was linked to her accusations against the show’s creator, Marc Cherry. Many fans believe the series lost its charm without Edie Britt, with some even choosing to stop watching after her exit.
Sheridan accused Cherry of physically assaulting her and subsequently filed a lawsuit after being removed from the show.
She also stated that Cherry exhibited abusive and hostile behavior towards fellow cast members and writers, but the lawsuit was dismissed in 2017. Naturally, Sheridan decided to step back from the limelight during this phase of her career, opting instead to engage in smaller passion projects.
She appeared in several Hallmark Channel films and participated in a 2017 reboot of Dynasty. In 2019, her character in Dynasty was written off after Sheridan opted to prioritize time with her ailing mother.
‘While working on the Dynasty reboot and reprising the beloved role of Alexis has been a wonderful experience, spending valuable moments with my terminally ill mother is my top priority right now,’ she shared with TV Line in 2019.
